Conferentie

Conferentie (from Lat. confero, to bring together, to unite) is the name of a party in the Reformed (Dutch) Church in America, which was opposed to the Caetus, or party of independence. Its members insisted upon the maintenance of organic ecclesiastical relations with the mother church in Holland, and the education and ordination of ministers. One side of the argument were known as the Conferentie while the other side was called the Coetus. The Coetus pushed for the clergy to be trained and ordained in America. Domine Meyer supported the Coetus movement.
